Kalaloka Institute of Fine ArtsWelcome to Kalaloka - the world of art, represented by a banyan tree that spreads it roots through its branches. Kalaloka will be our hub for all things Indian dance, music and theater. Be it classes, performances, workshops or just jamming sessions to bring artists together - it is all happening here at Kalaloka. Join us by registering for a class or attending a performance.
Classes are held starting September through July over three sessions of three months each - Fall, Winter and Spring. Payment is made for the whole session of three months. Check the FAQ section for more details.

Music - Carnatic Vocal*Note: you may be required to take a 6 day prerequisite course [Dec. 14-16 & 21-23, 6pm - 6:30pm CST. Cost: $60] when you register for VOC 102A or B. The instructor will speak with you regarding whether you are required to or not.
VOC 102A - Introduction to Carnatic music II
Content: 1-9 sarali varisai, selective janta varisai, introduction to adi talam, introduction to upper octove, song - varashiva balam Ages: 4-6 Saturdays 6pm - 6:30pm CST VOC 102B - Introduction to Carnatic music II Content: All sarali varisai, selective janta varisai, attempt to sing some of them with talam, upper stayi, understanding speeds, song - Shyamale meenakshi, Shakthi sahitha Ages: 7-10 Tuesdays 6pm - 6:30pm CST |
